I have been trying to lose weight for some time now, I eat healthy with cheat meals in between, let’s face it, we live in India we have many festivals we HAVE to be a part of; it’s like a national duty! Since you are here checking out my post and agreeing with what I just said :p I assume you are pretty serious with your weight loss. Deciding to make a change is the first step, and weight loss is many baby steps I assure you.
Now that you are all ready to embrace a new healthy lifestyle let me give you a few pointers which I had used to start off my journey:
Do Not Start Off With A Strict Diet
Yes, I get it…we need to lose weight, we need to be strict with our self, a small gateway and the hell breaks loose… yea I get all that, but the truth to be told, you need to start with one food item at a time, for example, I love magi noodles! But now I hardly eat it even once a month, same goes for mithai, pizza, burgers… You get the gist right?!I did not give it all up one fine day, it was slow and steady. The reason for doing so is if you leave all the good things you love to eat, in one go, your body will crave it and one fine day you will end up eating them more than what you normally would.
Don’t Stress over a particular Diet:
There are a million diet plans that we have heard of from our parents, friends, neighbors, cousins, internet… pretty much every person who can get you to hear their diet virtues. End result, we are confused, we just dive in into whatever first strikes our mind. Please stop this right now and think, what do you like, what makes you put on weight, what makes you feel bloated, just take some time for yourself, listen to your body’s needs. Everyone has a different body type, so what suited them would not necessarily suite you. Or just, just hire a consultant! IWB is doing some good progresses on that… go ahead!
One cannot escape this one. You need to be physically active to lose weight. Join the gym, or swim or walk/jog, don’t like sports? Just dance! No one complains after a good work out, that’s because exercising releases Endorphins, the hormones which make you feel good; reduce your anxiety and your sensitivity to pain. So just making yourself workout is the battle you need to win, once you start you enjoy it anyway!
Weight loss needs dedication and commitment. You should be the change that you want to be. If you want to lose weight you need to be focused and hard working, let’s face it, if weight loss were that easy we would all be slim by now. So yes it would require some efforts your part. Think about the way your body would thank you when you nourish it!
Go Shopping!!! Buy new clothes for your workout. Vibrant colors, different patterns, new shoes
A food dairy is very boring I know, but hey we are here to lose weight hence we need to do everything in our power to stick to it. Maintaining a food dairy helps you stay on track with what you are eating and how much calories you consume on an average, this in turn helps you keep a close eye on your eating habits. There is always something that we need to tweak that’s a hindrance in our weight loss. Try apps like Noom or Myfitnesspal My personal favorite is myfitesspal for its wide variety of food list and calorie count.
The amount of water in the human body ranges from 50-75%. Hence we need to drink at least 3 liters of water every day to keep our body functioning properly. And water aids weight loss, it keeps you full, maintains your sugar level and even helps with the cravings sometime J
